Rediscovering Beauty with Itty Bitty Book Co.

Thursday 10 November 2016

I find that looking for inspiration can be difficult, even in this world that is saturated with timelines and Pinterest boards filled to the brim with quotes and slogans all designed
to keep us inspired & motivated & encouraged.

But, a lot of the time I find that those inspirational quotes fall a little bit flat.
There are too many contradictory quotes on the same boards,
too many that actually manage to make me feel a little inferior,
a little bit less, if I don't want to #hustle or #girlboss it all the time.

And I'm pretty sure that is the opposite of their purpose!

But I do know how powerful true inspirational quotes can be, how much motivation, positivity, confidence & encouragement they can bring out in each of us, and that is why I want to introduce to you today the Itty Bitty Book Co.

Itty Bitty Book Co. are a local business here in Northern Ireland,
and their entire purpose is to promote positivity!
So I am very excited to say that I will be working with Itty Bitty in an attempt to bring more happiness & positivity to our lives, both on the Internet & in real life!

Everything they sell is made locally in Ireland, either in their home studio or at local eco-printers. They offer a range of inspirational prints, greetings cards, Irish linen wall banners and the Itty Bitty Books themselves, which are mini books filled with inspirational quotes, handmade and decorated with ethically sourced beads.

If you want to find out more about the story behind the owners & have a look at some of their amazing products, you can visit their website here!

Today however, I want to talk about two of their inspirational prints, and a quote that I think is going to be one of my lifelong favourites.

The print on the left is beautiful, and the idea behind it resonates heavily with where David & I are in our relationship at the moment! We haven't moved in together yet, but we are planning on getting married in the hopefully-not-too-distant future so I feel like this speaks to the truth of our relationship! Home is wherever I am with David, & I am so thankful that I can say that.

Now onto the print on the right. This print is just wonderful! You can find it here.
I love literally everything about it.
It reads:

"She is beautiful,
but not like those girls in the magazines.
She is beautiful, for the way she thinks. She is
beautiful, for that sparkle in her eyes when she talks
about something she loves. She is beautiful, for her
ability to make other people smile even if she is sad.
No, she isn't beautiful for something as temporary
as her looks. She is beautiful,
deep down in her soul."

In a world where body-shaming is sadly still a reality & there is still so much pressure on how we look, how we dress, even on how we hold ourselves as women, this quote is like a breath of fresh air!

It reminded me that while it's more than okay to take care of my appearance,
it is not the only thing that matters in this life!

What is so much more important than our looks, is our character.

How we treat other people, the things that make us happy, that we care for
& are passionate about, the way that we react to the world around us,
these are the things that make us who we are, these are the things that truly matter!
Not our looks, or how shiny our hair is, or how smooth our skin is.

I think it's important that we are all reminded of this, again & again.

Becoming too concerned with my appearance, with my looks, is a trap that I fall into time & time again, and I'm certain I am not the only one.

But I think it's time we stand our ground and say, no.
No, to the apparent "rules" that society has created about beauty.
No, to the misconception that beauty is only skin deep.

So today I want to take this opportunity to remind you that
we are, all of us, beautiful in our own unique way!

I am so excited to be working with Itty Bitty in promoting positivity & I can't wait to take part in
the #PositivityTakeover challenge! If you want to find out more about it you can check out their info page, or have a look at the cards themselves!
